How To Remove stubborn Red Wine Stains Naturally

I’m sure all wine lovers out there, especially red wine lovers, have had red wine spattered all over your favourite clothes in some way or another. Be it from a cork that was popped in the wrong way or a dinner party that turned sloppy, wine stains is definitely a mood killer.

For those that have not experienced it before (lucky you), imagine having red wine spilled all over your favourite white couch!

Fret not! Home cleaning experts from Helpling have come up with simple and effective ways to remove wine stains naturally.

Depending on whether you’re dealing with your favourite shirt, couch or carpet, there are a couple of approaches which will certainly do the job.

First and foremost, there are three important rules to follow:

  1. Absorb as much wine as possible use the use of a paper towel. It is the quickest way to keep the stains from settling.
  2. Do not rub it!
  3. Apply the following methods to begin working on what remains

Salt

Salt works as a fast solution to stain removals as it is readily available everywhere. Even though it doesn’t work on all stains, it is a perfect solution when you are having dinner at a fancy restaurant and the only thing you can get your hands to is salt. It reduces the stain significantly so that you can treat it once you get back home.

Club Soda

The good old club soda treatment has been a success with most people. Simply pour a good amount of club soda over the desired area and let it work its magic!

Dishwashing Liquid & Hydrogen Peroxide

Mix 3 parts HP to 1 part liquid dish soap and apply it to the affected areas. This is perhaps the one of the most popular and trusted DIY solution that effectively breaks up the red color in the wine. The trick is to pour the solution on and let it sit for a little while and continue this step until the stain magically disappears. The only skill that is required here is patience.

Bicarbonate Soda & Vinegar

Sprinkle a little bicarbonate soda onto the stain and watch the stains slowly transform from red to pale grey. Once it has turned grey, lightly dap on the spot with a some vinegar and and voila!

Hot Water Through The Fabric

The last trick that most wine drinkers swear by would be to stretch the stained area over a bowl and pour boiling water right through it. Many have claimed to have watched the stains disappear right before their eyes! This technique is most effective on fabrics that are sturdy like a linen tablecloths
