Alright, let’s start off by admitting that we all own that precious jewelry box that contains our prized silver bracelets, rings or necklaces! But do you also feel the same way as I do watching what used to be my dear prized bracelet slowly lose its lustre and starts tarnishing as the years goes by?
We want to help restore your pieces to its original glory and better still, you do not need to spend big bucks to do so! We’ve got some great silver cleaning solutions that are as easy as it gets. Try out these everyday items – most of which can be found in your home – to clean your silver and make your jewelry shine and sparkle once again!
Lemon
Lemon is great for a truckloads of things and have been used for centuries due to its myriad of benefits! Add a few drops of lemon juice to 1/2 cup of water. Using an old toothbrush, dip it into the mixture and gently scrub the oxidization off those prized silver pieces.
Baking Soda
Combine 1/4 cup of baking soda with 2 tablespoons of water. Use a soft cloth to apply the mixture onto your silverware and rub gently. Rinse under cold water and use another cloth to pat dry.
Beer
Not only a must-have on TGIF Fridays, beer can also help get that shine back on your silver jewelry! Soak your pieces in a mug of beer overnight. Remove your pieces the next day, rinse it under running water and be amazed.
Toothpaste
Using an old toothbrush, squeeze a little toothpaste on it and gently scrub the oxidized areas of your jewelry! Afterwards, use a damp cloth to clean off the residue.
White vinegar
Mix a cup full of water with 1/2 cup of white vinegar and stir well. Immerse your silverware into the mixture and leave it for 2 hours. Remove your objects and rinse them under cold water. Next, use a soft cloth to dry thoroughly.
